Nutrition and eating healthy should be a priority no matter what life stage we’re in. We’re seeing this value grow especially in new parents as they start to cook meals for their little ones and not just for themselves. We’ve invited Sharon from Mama Chit Chat to share why, as a mom, she approves Wild Planet Foods and confidently serves our products to her family!

After cooking for 5 days straight during the week, I basically throw in the towel when it comes to the weekend. However, my kids still need to eat, so my favorite quick, healthy and easy lunch on the weekend is tuna with crackers and veggies tray.

Thanks to Moms Meet, I was recently introduced to Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna. Here are 3 reasons why I love Wild Planet Foods!

Simple and Real Ingredients

Wild Planet tuna is packed without added water, broth or fillers, and cooked once right in the can. Simply mix the natural juices right back into the tuna where they will be absorbed quickly and provide added flavor and nutrition.

Great Nutritional Taste

Because of their real ingredients, being 100% tuna, the taste is fresh and amazing. They hand pack a raw tuna steak seasoned with a touch of sea salt into each can. Per 3oz serving, there is 21g of protein and an average of 705mg EPA and DHA Omega 3, which gives me the confidence that I’m not only serving food that tastes good to my family but food that is actually good for them.

Sustainably Caught

Did you know Wild Planet tuna is 100% pole and line caught and is considered a BEST CHOICE for Sustainability by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program? Wild Planet is proud to support pole and line fleets and will not purchase tuna caught using long lines, nets or through the use of Fish Aggregating Devices — all of which result in the wasted by-catch of other species.

They’re #1! Greenpeace ranked 20 well-known canned tuna brands based on how sustainable, ethical, and fair their tuna products are for our oceans and for the workers who help get the product to the store shelves. As a mission-based company, Wild Planet is very proud to have earned recognition as the #1 brand.

My family was so impressed with Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna that I went to their website and found a recipe for Tuna Cakes. It was so good that I wanted to share with you my version:

Tuna Cakes Recipe

Makes 4-6 tuna cakes

3 (5oz) cans Albacore Wild Tuna or Skipjack Wild Tuna
2 eggs, beaten in separate bowl
2 Tbsp flour
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
Olive Oil
Fresh lemon

1. Gently flake cans of tuna. I like to use this tool to break it down.

2. Mix in ingredients together until thoroughly combined.

3. Heat a bit of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

4. Shape tuna mixture into balls and flatten into round cakes. Dip into the other bowl of beaten egg, then coat with a light layer of breadcrumbs.
Cook tuna cakes until each side is crispy and golden brown (3-5 minutes on each side).

5. Top with a squeeze of lemon and enjoy!

Disclosure: This post was written as part of my participation in the Moms Meet program. While Wild Planet provided me material and necessary resources to complete various activities, the thoughts and statements in this post are my own.
