Cacio e Pepe Tuna Melt

We teamed up with our friends at Chosen Foods to create this decadent Cacio e Pepe-inspired Tuna Melt! A classic tuna salad but with an Italian spin, including shallot, ground black pepper, fresh parsley, and a delicious mix of fontina, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. The crispy exterior comes from mixing Chosen Foods Classic Mayo with parmesan cheese and spreading on the outside of the bread. The final dish is cheesy, crispy and packed with flavor.

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix ¾ cup of Chosen Foods Classic Mayo with ¼ cup parmesan and fresh ground black pepper.

  2. In a separate bowl, combine 2 cans Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna with ½ cup of Chosen Foods Classic Mayo, 1 finely chopped shallot, fresh lemon juice, ground black pepper, and fresh parsley.

  3. In a third bowl, mix together freshly grated fontina cheese, mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese.

  4. To assemble: spread mayonnaise & parmesan mixture on the outside of two slices of sourdough bread. On the inside, heavily spread the tuna mixture on the bread & top with a generous amount of the cheese mixture. Put the second piece of bread on top.

  5. Warm up a pan on the stove on low heat and place the sandwich on the pan. Cover, and heat until the outside of the bread is browned and crispy. Flip and repeat on the second side, until cheese is fully melted and the bread is crispy & browned.

  6. Repeat, if making second or third sandwiches.

  7. Enjoy!
