These elegant Goat Cheese and Sardine Toasts transform Wild Planet's sardines into a sophisticated appetizer perfect for any occasion. The combination of creamy, citrus-kissed goat cheese and nutrient-rich sardines creates an impressive bite that's both delicious and simple to prepare. Topped with sweet peppers, fresh dill, and a bright caper sauce, these crostini deliver restaurant-quality presentation with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 2 (4.4oz) cans Wild Planet Wild Sardines In Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 1/2 Lemon, juiced and zested 

  • 1 Tbsp Capers, drained 

  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper 

  • 2 sweet Mini Red Peppers

  • Dill, for garnish 
  • Grilled Lemon, for serving 

  • Goat Cheese spread

  • 8 oz Goat Cheese, at room temperature 

  • 1/2 Lemon, juiced and zested

  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper 

  • Crostini

  • 1 Demi Baguette 

  • 1 Garlic Clove, for rubbing 

  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil 

  • 1/2 tsp Salt 

  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425ºF

  2. Add sardines to a baking dish- split in half and optionally remove the spine; add lemon zest and juice, capers and black pepper and bake for 10 minutes

  3. To make the goat cheese spread- mix goat cheese with lemon zest + juice and black pepper

  4. Slice and season baguette with olive oil, salt and pepper on both sides and sear on a skillet; rub a garlic clove on each slice

  5. Spread a spoonful of the goat cheese, place a sardine half on top, thinly sliced sweet red peppers, dill and pour some of the lemon/caper sauce over

  6. Serve with grilled lemon and enjoy!
