Mackerel Patties with Lemon Aioli

These mackerel patties are crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor on the inside: made with shallots, Panko breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard and black pepper. Pair them with a lemon aioli, fresh chopped chives and fresh lemon for the perfect appetizer or entree.

Ingredients

    Mackerel Patties

  • 1 (5oz) can Wild Planet Wild Pacific Mackerel

  • 2 Tbsp Shallot, finely chopped

  • ½ cup Panko bread crumbs

  • 2 Eggs

  • 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 3 Tbsp Mayonnaise

  • ½ tsp Salt

  • ¼ tsp Black pepper

  • ¼ cup Neutral oil

  • Lemon Aioli

  • ½ cup Mayonnaise

  • 1 Tbsp Lemon juice

  • ½ tsp Salt

  • ¼ tsp Black pepper

  • ¼ tsp chopped Chives

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the patties and fold until homogenous.

  2. In another bowl stir together all the ingredients for the aioli, set aside.

  3. Use a ¼ cup to ⅓ cup measuring cup to scoop and shape the patties.

  4. Meanwhile heat neutral oil in a large skillet on medium heat. When a crumb of the mackerel patty mixture sizzles, the oil is ready to fry.

  5. Fry the mackerel patties for 4-5 minutes per side.

  6. Serve with lemon wedges and aioli.
