Wild Mackerel Fillets In Extra Virgin Olive Oil

4.4oz Can

Single-species purse seine methods that virtually eliminate unintended bycatch. Any incidental bycatch of other species is fully retained and utilized. Nothing is discarded. FADs* are never used.

*Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) are man-made objects that attract fish often outside of the targeted species causing unintentional bycatch.

Ingredients: Mackerel (Scomber colias), organic extra virgin olive oil, sea salt
Our mackerel is harvested in the Atlantic Ocean, working with well-managed fisheries in Morocco that practice sustainable harvesting of targeted free-swimming schools of mackerel.

Delicately Textured Hand Filleted

Commonly known as Saba on sushi menus, our delicately textured mackerel fillets are packed in organic extra virgin olive oil with a touch of sea salt.

Hand-filleted with great care and attention to detail, our wild mackerel is skinless and boneless and has a delicious flavor very similar to tuna. Our wild mackerel fillets are an easy and tasty way to eat lower on the food chain.

Fishing for Change

Our Albacore Wild Tuna is 100% pole & line or troll caught. Nets are never used to catch our tuna. Why? We are on a mission to eliminate bycatch (when species are unintentionally caught in the process of fishing a targeted catch, then killed and discarded). Our sustainable fishing methods also protect juvenile fish so they can grow and reproduce.

From Catch to Can

We know exactly where our fish come from. We know the fishermen, boats and boat owners and our engagement continues when the boats are delivering the catch to the docks. Through our partnership with Trace Register, we are able to track each boatload of fish from the moment they reach the dock until they are delivered to your local store.

    The best

The only mackerel I buy! High quality, not as expensive as some of the nice Spanish brands, and I love Wild Planet's ethical stance.

    My go to lunch

I love these. I put them on a stoneground wheat crackers. I buy these due to the low mercury and sustainable practices. I have found buying these direct is cheaper than the grocery store.

    Excellent Canned Fish

IMHO, this is the best fish one can buy, in a can. I love expensive tuna (Spanish) in the can, plus Sardines (various brands). But, to me, this Mackerel is the best. It has a very meaty texture, is packed in Olive Oil, and doesn't have a "fishy taste" (like Sardines and some brands of Tuna). The cans are fully packed with Mackerel; not just partly filled. This is literally my favorite fish in a can. I've been eating it for a few years now.
